In Timeless Journey – The Italian Grand Tour by @liriusgames you step into the shoes of travelers who set out to explore Italy through the 18th and 19th centuries. During your journey you will make strategic choices, discover different cities, make friendships and connect with locals.

Timeless Journey – The Italian Grand Tour is a strategic game in which you build a deck of cards to perform different actions and hopefully create chain reactions. You will encounter famous travelers such as Montesquieu, Mary Shelley or Byron. The routes between cities are sometimes free, but for certain routes you have to pay. If you cannot do this, you are not allowed to use that route.
The game takes place in five rounds, each consisting of four phases. In the first phase, you play cards to travel, collect idea tokens or city tiles, make friends, drink coffee or write letters. After each player has played five cards, this phase ends. In the second phase, you watch the bonus actions of three famous travelers, some of which bring immediate benefits and others at the end of a round.
In phase three, you may take a free card from the market, depending on how many different categories of cards you have played. Finally, in stage four, you discard cards from the market, add new cards, and check your hand limit.

The power of the game lies in creating chain reactions and set collection. You try to fill your 2 travel diaries for points at the end of the game. It can sometimes be frustrating if you don’t have money to travel, but you can exchange cards for cash. In addition, the addition of making friends and sending letters offers strategic options without having to travel back. The game offers an interesting combination of actions and strategies.
