Introduction

It’s a sunny day, you’re surrounded by friends and family, and the excitement is building as you prepare for a game of Boule Rouge by @2TomatoesGames. This game, which mimics the essence of pétanque, is all about precision and strategy. The goal is simple: throw your balls with accuracy and get as close to the jack as possible.

You play in teams, and victory is achieved by winning two rounds. Each round begins with carefully setting up the balls and drawing cards, adding an extra layer of

strategy. The team that won the previous round gets to throw the jack, and then the real game begins.

What makes Boule Rouge so enjoyable is the mix of skill and tactics. Every game starts with setting up your team: gathering balls, drawing cards, and deciding who

throws the jack. From there, the battle is on! With each card, you not only determine how you play but also what spin you give your ball. 🎲 A forward spin? Or a backspin to give that one ball just the right nudge? Anything is possible, and that makes every moment exciting.

Turns don’t just alternate; the team closest to the jack plays until the opponent either gets closer or runs out of boules. This means you must stay on your toes,

adjust your strategy, and stay one step ahead of your opponents. And just when you think you’ve mastered the game, the advanced cards come into play, adding

even more excitement and unexpected twists.

The game lasts 2 or 3 rounds, and in each round both teams play. The first team to win 2 rounds wins the game.

At first, Boule Rouge looks fun, and that’s what immediately appealed to us. The rules aren’t too difficult, it looks great, and the advanced cards add even

more replayability. However, we were a bit disappointed that the rules are with a couple of errors and could have been written more clearly, which would make playing this game even more enjoyable.
