Introduction
🎬🐐 You’ve assembled the perfect cast, but will your cartoon stars work together once the cameras start rolling? Build the strongest cast you can and aim for the highest score!

Let’s get it on the table
In FlipToons, you assemble a cast for the next big animated hit! You start with six cards and gradually build a stronger lineup of cartoon characters. But who actually makes it onto the screen? You’ll only find out when you reveal your cards. 👀
Each round, all players simultaneously shuffle their own decks and reveal their cards one by one into a three-by-two grid. You fill the top row first, followed by the bottom row. Some characters immediately shake things up by stacking cards, flipping other characters face down or changing their positions. Your cast can get quite a makeover before the reveal is even finished!
Next, you count how much fame your characters generate. The right positions and clever combinations make all the difference. A goat shines in the top row, while a dragonfly rewards you for having different characters next to it. 🐐✨
You then head to the market with that fame. On your turn, you take up to two actions: hire new characters or dismiss cards from your grid.
Will you recruit a new star or improve your deck by removing a weaker card first? Afterwards, you collect your cards and the next round begins with another shuffle!
Once someone reaches at least 30 fame, they receive the three-point bonus card. The round is completed, followed by the Final Flip. Everyone reveals their cast one last time, and whoever generates the most fame during this final reveal wins!
I was excited about FlipToons from my very first plays, although it took me a little longer to get a feel for the tactics. What’s the best move to make? After many games on BGA and at the table, I have to say this is one of the most fun card games of 2026!
The tactical choices are a big part of its appeal, but the fantastic artwork adds so much charm too. It reminds me a little of Looney Tunes. Each card has its own abilities, and finding the right combinations can suddenly make them incredibly powerful. Discovering those combinations as you play is great fun, although it can also be frustrating when someone snatches the exact card you wanted right from under your nose!
I also played it solo several times during our holiday, and Season 1 will definitely be coming along on future trips.
If you’re not a big fan of luck in card games, this might be one you’re more likely to pass on. But if you’re on the fence, I’d definitely encourage you to give it a try. There’s also good news for Dutch players: a Dutch edition is coming through Asmodee!
Season 2 is already available too, and we’ll be telling you more about that soon.
